Mountain View

“Folk Music Capital of the World”

The following is a list of the attractions offered by Mountain View, Stone County and the Ozark National Forest.

Ozark Folk Center

Go back into the early 1900’s to see how Ozark settlers crafted all their tools, art and entertained themselves with music.

White River

The White River begins at the Bull Shoals and Norfolk dams and travels 120 miles to Batesville, AR. This river held the record for both brown and rainbow trout and is noted as a premier trout stream. There are many marinas that provide guides and all equipment necessary to enjoy a day on the river.

Blanchard Caverns

Located on Highway 14 near the community of Fifty-Six this cavern is one of the most visited cave systems in the United States. Operated by the National Park Service, they provide three distinct tours for your enjoyment. The Drip Stone tour is handicap accessible.

The OK Corral

Also located on Highway 14 prior to reaching Blanchard caverns. Take a trip thru the national forest on horseback. You may see all kinds of wildlife.

Tours of private art and craft studios

featured in a sponsored event. See the Mountain View chamber calendar for dates of this worthwhile event.

Sylamore Bike Trails

Mountain bikers and hikers alike will find the  “bike trails” a “must do” adventure. There are five (5) trails in the Sylamore National Forest graded from easy to challenging totaling seventy (75) miles. It is the Home of Mountain Bikers most challenging races in the spring. This event draws the “top” names in this sport to Mountain View.

Loco Ropes

is fun for the whole family. Enjoy climbing and “flying” thru the tree tops or walking a “rope” obstacle course.

Mountain View has a public pool, but you may want to experience the cool spring like water of Sylamore creek, Blanchard Springs after it flows out of the caverns, or “Gunner pool”. Why not try a cool “water hole” to cool off and relax.

Mountain View downtown square is the center for shopping, food and entertainment.
